Who are you and where do you come from?
I am Lotta and I was a marketing and sales coordinator trainee at Verkotan. I worked for Verkotan for a year.
What made you to apply for Verkotan?
I was familiar with Verkotan already because I had seen them presenting themselves at the Pesti career day. Also, some of my classmates had been trainees here. My friend told me that Verkotan was searching for summer trainees and after reading some trainee experiences from Verkotan website, I decided to apply.
Describe your role and your everyday tasks and responsibilities?
I do variety of things related to marketing! My daily tasks include managing our advertising campaigns, updating our websites, content creation, search engine optimization and managing our social media channels, for example LinkedIn and Twitter. There have also been some projects that I have got to lead, for example, we did our new SAR sample requirements video and OTA 5G service video in cooperation with Huuru Media.
What are your hobbies or passions outside of work?
In my free time I like to do sports because it helps resetting my mind. I go to gym regularly and last year I also started a new hobby, climbing. I also like to see my friends.
Best experience at Verkotan so far?
The best thing at this job is that here you can get the hands-on experience. It is great that here I can work independently, and the company trusts me. It is also great that we have flexible working hours, which means that if you want to, you can, for example, go to gym in the morning, and can start working a little bit later.
What was surprising?
I was positively surprised by how much responsibilities Verkotan has given me. Marketing trainee at Verkotan basically handles everything related to digital marketing. Here you have a chance to implement your own ideas and try out new things.
What was your biggest professional challenge?
At first, it was hard to understand what tasks are the first priorities. It is important to recognize those first priorities because there are a lot of things going on at the same time. But during the first month, I started to recognize what tasks I should do immediately and what should be left for later.
What did you learn as a trainee at Verkotan?
I have learned a lot of things. Among other things, I learned the basic skills how to use WordPress, do search engine optimization, create content, and communicate with our partners. This job has also taught me to be an independent worker. In addition, I have learnt a lot about the wireless industry which has been very interesting!
What would you say to future trainees?
I would recommend Verkotan for every marketing student. Here you can get a more comprehensive picture what B2B marketing is in real-life and learn more about it by doing. The qualities you need in this job are good time management and organization skills, good English skills (because every content is written in English and as a marketing trainee you will do a lot of content creation) and a creative mind!
