Spurious emissions testing
Spurious signals are unwanted signals that a device under test might transmit. Spurious emissions test is a mandatory part of the EMC testing and there are strict international and regional limits to spurious emissions set by the FCC, RED and ISED. Spurious emissions test is one of the most common tests to be failed on the way to EMC certification. Thus, ensuring that the spurious emissions of a device are under control can save time and money in the EMC testing stage.
Pre-conformance spurious emissions test helps to determine if a device is ready for the market entry and make sure that the device passes the spurious emissions test of the EMC testing process. With our pre-conformance testing, device manufacturers can be sure that their device’s spurious emissions comply with the limits set by different international and regional authorities.
Spurious signals can cause connection problems to other wireless devices and are often caused by transmitted radio signals or digital clock signals. Verkotan can perform spurious emissions tests already in the research and development stage to ensure that the spurious emissions of a device are under control.
The testing can be performed over-the-air in the frequency range of 400 MHz¬-44.5 GHz. Spurious emissions testing is performed in an anechoic Over-the-Air, OTA test chamber from the measurement distance of 1 to 3 meters by measuring the spurious emissions from all the sides of the device. After this the average amount of unwanted signals is counted and the final result will show if the device’s spurious emissions are within the limits. Other option to perform the testing is conducted testing, which can also be done up to 44,5GHz.
Equipment to be tested
We can test devices that include 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G radios. We can also produce a comprehensive 3D visual analysis of the spurious emissions test results.
We can perform spurious emission tests for example to
- 2G, 3G, 4G & 5G base stations
- IoT devices
- Mobile devices
- Other various radio devices
